Grover Norquist Agrees that the Fiscal Cliff Deal Raises No One's Taxes

According to Igor Volsky at Think Progress (here):
As the House began voting on the measure, Grover Norquist gave his blessing, tweeting that since the vote took place in the new year — after the Bush tax cuts have technically expired — “Every R voting for Senate bill is cutting taxes and keeping his/her pledge.”

  1. Congress has mastered the art of not being responsible for what it does. Most House GOP voted against the deal, and my guess is that it was the Norquist-supporting budget hardliners who were more likely to be voting against the bill.

I wonder what Norquist was trying to accomplish? Trying to make himself relevant to moderates and Democrats? Seems unlikely.
