Happy Birthday Ralph Vaughn Williams (1872-1958)

A throw-back composer of lush and lyrical melodies. He was beloved in his native England, but remains underrated throughout the rest of the world perhaps because he was never in the avant-garde. He wrote lovely  music, including numerous choral works. Less well known are his wonderful chamber music pieces.

Here is a movement from his Piano Quintet in C Minor.
